Joint B&O, PRR and N&W meeting

I have been a member of the PRR T&HS since 1990. I am a SPF by most definitions but I have a side interest in B&O and some N&W. I also am a member of the B&O for 2 years now. I will join the N&W next when I can.

I have had an idea about having a joint 2 day event PRR, B&O and N&W meeting for about 2 years now. I always go to the PRR conventions, but doubt that I will ever go to a B&O or N&W convention so that is where my idea came from. I have been to 2 of the 2 day Prototype Modelers Meetings in Malvern PA over the past 3 years and thought they were absolutely the best. In this vein is what I envision this meet to be; no contests, a few clinics and just hang out to show and tell about your models and prototype experiences. Perhaps if there are no formal tours at least for the first event, it would make it substantially easier to plan and run the event. Here is the hotel, this is the date, it costs XX$$ to attend, show up if you want. Hit that red button. (That was easy!)

Again, the Malvern PA Prototype Modelers is in a suburb of Philadelphia, home to a reasonable amount of rail activity. But there were no tours there except for some self guided layout tours on the way home. It makes the choice of what to do real simple. In my mind, this idea is admittedly more of a modelers meeting then a prototype meeting but the clinics are going to be whatever is offered to be presented.

I pitched it to my some of PRR friends about 6 months ago. I did not get much response so I figured I would try again from this end in the name of organize it and they will come. I thought that the Baltimore area would be a good equidistant epicenter for the event but Hagerstown could be a possibility as well since the 3 roads serviced it.

I am not suggesting that any or all of the societies actually sponsor the event. They would be merely one way of promoting it. You should be able to attend if you are a member of any one of the organizations.

This will not happen in the next few months or possibly this year. I wanted to plant the seed to see if there are others that are interested. I am just the idea man. I will help when and where possible but I think someone close to the meeting spot needs to step up if this idea comes to life.
